What's New with Cloud Infrastructure
VMware is announcing new services and programs to help enterprises find, connect and manage the enterprise hybrid cloud – one that links virtualized datacenters and private clouds with the world’s largest network of compatible, secure and reliable cloud service providers. This means organizations can bring their existing applications to the cloud faster and at a lower cost.
- Disaster Recovery to the Cloud - Four VMware service provider partners have announced plans to introduce new cloud-based disaster recovery services built on vCenter Site Recovery Manager 5.
- vcloud.vmware.com, introducing a new gateway to the enterprise hybrid cloud. This is a portal where customers can find service providers in their geographies, arrange a public cloud test drive (trial cloud), and then through integration with vCloud Connector begin to manage and transfer workloads and data into these clouds.
- vCloud Connector 1.5 beta. Updates include a faster, highly reliable data transfer architecture that increases the reliability of workload transfer while reducing the time it takes.
- Introducing vCloud Global Connect, a new optional feature of VMware’s vCloud Datacenter Services that allows customers to use cloud computing services from multiple providers as if they are from a single virtual cloud – across geographies. VMware provides the common cloud infrastructure, vCloud API and vCloud Datacenter Services extensions to the providers, and the service providers provide the contract and SLAs to their customers. Several of our vCloud Datacenter partners have agreed to offer vCloud Global Connect services (BlueLock, Colt, SingTel, Softbank)
